There are many fine wall monuments of the eighteenth and early 19th C. St Peter Mancroft has always been the largest Norwich parish church and has been well endowed by the rich merchants, many of whom became Lord Mayors of the City.

Robert Hawkes Elizabeth Hawkes Robert, a warehouseman, was a sheriff in 1819, elected alderman of Mancroft ward in 1818 and became mayor in 1822. He was a shop boy at Caister who married the boss's (William Jermy's) daughter . He lived and served his Mayoralty in 18, Bethel Street - where he died. |

James Hudson James was an alderman for the Great Mancroft ward. He was sheriff in 1788 and Mayor in 1794.The monument is of an unusual design - depicting Egyptian overtones. |
