On 6 May across Norwich events will be held to mark the crowning of Charles III, including street parties, church services, concerts and fireworks. This will be the first coronation of a British monarch that many have witnessed, which contrasts greatly with the period 1902 to 1953 when four coronations took place. As you will see, these were also marked with commemorative festivities, which despite the passing of time have many similarities to this year’s planned jollifications – and a few differences.
